We (Patty and Mike) were able to get our first round of vaccinations thanks to a vaccine location in Marion Country. This is an important step for us (see last post). We get the second dose on February 8, and then after that the team will look at John’s kidney health to make a new decision/evaluation. Our understanding is that at the adult hospital Patty will be at, there are still a lot of COVID patients. We will see.
John’s next blood work results will come at the beginning of February. When you are on the active donor list, you have to also get a compatibility blood draw to align possible donor matches (John is still on the active donor list, which means that if an organ becomes available from a deceased person, John has a chance to get a kidney transplant that way, as well). The active donor list is important because the reason we keep waiting right now is due to COVID cases, which affect the adult hospital and Patty’s ability to have the surgery, but not the children’s hospital where they currently have few COVID patients, to our knowledge.
In the meantime, we have baby goats! They have been born this month and we are loving them!
We also can’t thank you enough for your love, prayers, and generosity. It has been absolutely amazing during this time.
