Surgery Day is here – 3/17/21! Plus Breakfast Burrito Fundraiser 3/21/21

Remember to wear blue for John in addition to the traditional green on St. Patrick’s Day – Surgery Day!

John admitted to the hospital with Patty sitting next to him

Pictured: John in his hospital room relaxing, with Patty next to him working on her laptop running the farm from afar.

John was admitted to the Lucille Packard Children’s Hospital as-planned at about 2pm on Monday, March 15, 2021, to get ready for surgery and have final tests done. Patty was admitted on Tuesday, March 16, 2021, to the adult hospital (also as-planned). Mike and Patty stayed overnight at the hospital with John on Monday night. We learned down in California that Patty can’t have someone with her at the hospital, so that means our friend Jenn who came down to accompany Patty is on standby, and will be ready to take care of Patty right when she gets discharged, including picking her up from the hospital. Ideally Patty will get discharged Friday morning.

Mike will stay with John at the hospital until the medical team has John’s medications stabilized. They have to make sure the kidney is working, and the medical team will keep a really close eye on him. This usually takes about a week.

Wondering what you can do while you are waiting for news? The Knights of Columbus in Mt. Angel have arranged a delicious fundraiser this Sunday, March 21, 2021. We are so grateful that they picked COTA for John’s Journey.

The Mt. Angel Knights of Columbus drive-up style breakfast burrito fundraiser will support the Children’s Organ Transplant Association in honor of kids like John. The breakfast burritos are $5 each and can be pre-ordered using the form linked below. Pickup window is 8am-11:30am on Sunday.

Thank you all so much for the prayers and support! They mean so much to us.
