Saturday Update–A bump in the road

Alex was back in the OR again this morning but not all news is bad.  See Jenna’s update below.  This is one strong kid!

Transplant is a lifelong journey.  Alex’s journey is far from over.  Meds and check ups and labs will cost a lot.    So many have given so generously to COTA and yet, the need remains.  Any contributions you can make to COTA for Team Alex A will allow COTA to help the family with these ongoing costs.  Jenna and Louie give so much back through their own work taking care of others.  It’s time to care for the caregivers and this is one way you can help.  Thank you, all of you, for your contributions and your prayers.

Biopsy showed cellular rejection.
Today has been a whirlwind of emotions but of all bad news to get- this is the “best” bad news.
Cellular rejection is treated by high dose steroids which they started already. He’ll remain on these til his labs start improving enough to taper them.
Monday he’ll return to the OR for his FIFTH surgery in 2 weeks to close.
It’s incredibly disheartening since we feel like he’s starting over in his recovery when he had finally made some progress. But considering the life-threatening complications it could’ve been, we’re so grateful to God for letting his problem be easily treatable.
Please continue to pray for his full healing and that there will be no more bumps in the road????
