Emmy’s paper chain countdown is getting pretty short….. 1 week from today she will be in surgery. This week was full of appointments and finishing up school. Her scoliosis spinal X-ray showed no progression of her curve which is great news. 💪 We got the go-ahead to stop bracing until her g-tube is out and her scars have healed! We are hopeful we can get her back into her brace by early to mid August. She also had a pre-op CT and got her braces changed!
We have a fun weekend planned (with lots of packing in between the fun!) and Avery, Emmy, and I fly out Monday. We will all fly to Denver, drop Avery at the airport train then Emmy and I will head to our connection flight to Cincinnati and Avery will make her way to passenger pick up where her Nana will be waiting with open arms! She will stay with her Nana and Papa for a week in Denver then head to South Dakota to spend a week with Grandma. The week Emmy’s in the ICU, Avery will be attending an SDSU Nursing camp for high schoolers where they will be doing labs, shadowing, and learning what it takes to be a nurse! To say Avery is beyond excited is an understatement!! Avery and Grandma will fly to Cincy on June 17th. This will be the longest Jarret and I have been away from Avery but I know she’s in good hands and is going to have a blast! Jarret leaves Texas and drives to Cincinnati on Tuesday & Wednesday. He should arrive Wednesday afternoon/evening which will be just in time for us to Check In to the hospital Thursday morning 6/4. Big thank you to everyone who will be helping out with the kid, dog, house, yard, mail… etc while we are gone. Truly appreciate you all.
Fun Fact: this past week was Avery’s 3-year anniversary since her TPIAT surgery. We all didn’t realize it until 10pm that night…. It was a great reminder that life will get back to the crazy, chaotic schedule eventually so we will take in all the extra time to snuggle our little lady and enjoy the slower pace over the next few months!
PS: Caterpillars are still in their cocoon. Bird house is complete!
