ER Visit/Croup

Rafe woke up at 2:00 AM Saturday morning not able to breathe. He woke up out of nowhere with “stridor” breathing saying he couldn’t breathe and felt like he was choking. We had never heard anything like that before and rushed him to the nearest ER. They took great care of him and got him the help that he needed right away. The ER doctor diagnosed him with croup. He was monitored for three hours and then released. Thankfully, the medicine they gave him relieved him very quickly. He has had headaches, a cough, and ran fever all day yesterday. The last fever he ran was around 4:00 this morning. His sister was sick earlier this week with fever, headache, and a sore throat. She tested negative for Covid and strep but the doctor thought strep may have been too early to detect. They gave her antibiotics and after a few doses she felt much better. Today, we got Rafe swabbed for Covid and the flu just to be safe. We are watching him very closely and see his OU team tomorrow. We are praying that with the fever behind us, they both are on the mend.
